Helena: Solitude in the Labyrinth brings together previously unpublished correspondence between the Mexican poet Helena Paz Garro (1939–2014) and one of the most important thinkers of the twentieth century, the German writer Ernst Jünger (1895–1998). Helena’s letters reveal the pain of her solitude, which became her constant companion throughout her life, as well as her relentless search for recognition from her parents. Through these letters, Helena expressed her need for attention and assistance, which came from one of Germany’s great writers, Ernst Jünger. He replied to her letters, became her interlocutor, and gave her a sense of protection. In addition, Jünger offered her his friendship and helped her publish her poems in Madrid and Paris.
