Antonym sees a world in which a poem written in Cuttack can be read in Havana, a novel written in Guwahati can be discussed in Riyadh, a short story written in Chennai can move a reader in Milan, and a folk performance rehearsed in a Bengal village residency can be staged in front of an audience that has never heard the language it is sung in.
Antonym's vision is a genuinely two-way corridor between the Indian subcontinent and the world — Bengali, Hindi, Assamese, Odia, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam flowing outward into English, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Italian, French, and German, and those literatures and performance traditions flowing back into India's own.

Biswadip Chakraborty is a writer, engineer, and the founder of Antonym Collections and the Antonym Council of Global Art and Literature. Director – Supplier Systems at Ford Motor Company by profession, he brings an engineer's instinct for structure and systems to the world of books. In Bengali, he is the author of four works of fiction. That writing life — lived alongside a demanding corporate career — gives him an unusually grounded understanding of what emerging writers need and what publishing can do better. Antonym Collections, which he founded, has grown into a leading platform for translated and multilingual literature, carrying the voices of vernacular writers from South Asia and beyond to readers around the world. With Antonym Global Publishing, he extends that mission: a global home for translated literature — no matter where they are from or whatever language they first called their own. He is a vocal advocate for the thoughtful use of artificial intelligence in publishing as a way for independent imprints to work with the reach and precision that good writing deserves.
Anisuz Zaman

Anisuz Zaman is a writer, translator, and storyteller born in Bangladesh. His work stands out as pioneering in the field of direct translation between Bengali and Spanish in both directions, opening a literary bridge that for decades had depended on versions mediated through English. He has rendered into Spanish foundational works of Bengali literature such as The Boatman of the Padma by Manik Bandopadhyay, A Thousand Years by Zahir Raihan, and Black Ice by Mahmudul Haque, in addition to an anthology of contemporary Bengali short stories. In parallel, he has translated into Bengali key authors of Spanish-American literature, including Juan Rulfo, Gabriel García Márquez, Jorge Luis Borges, Alfonso Reyes, Adolfo Bioy Casares, Ángeles Mastretta, and Juan Carlos Onetti. He is the author of the novel Princesa negra de dos estambres, a work that weaves together memory, migration, and intimate experience with a narrative structure that dialogues with the Latin American tradition without losing its Bengali roots.

Yashodhara Raychaudhuri
Poet, Kolkata
Publishing since 1993, with several poetry collections to her name between 1996 and 2019, and winner of the Krittibas Puroskar (1998). Also writes short stories, novellas and essays, and translates from French — her rendering of Serge Bramly's Leonardo da Vinci is a career landmark.
Dr. Chaiti Mitra
Associate Professor, Department of English, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan College, Kolkata
Guest Faculty at West Bengal State University. Her research spans women's writing and narratives of trauma and resistance; her translation work is among the few to take on the dense narratives of Shyamal Gangopadhyay and Tilottama Majumdar. Her translated collection Chandaneswar Junction: And Other Stories is published by The Antonym Collections; her Bengali translation of Hamlet is currently staged by Swapnasandhani.

J. J. Junieles
Country Coordinator for Colombia, Antonym Global Publishing
John Jairo Junieles — known as J. J. Junieles — is a Colombian author, journalist, lawyer, and educator based in Bogotá, whose work moves fluidly between fiction, poetry, and public life. He is the author of the novels El hombre que hablaba de Marlon Brando (2020) and Barrio Bomba (2025), alongside multiple short story collections and five books of poetry, and has taught fiction writing and screenwriting at leading Colombian universities including Universidad Nacional and Universidad Javeriana. A recipient of the Premio Nacional de Literatura Ciudad de Bogotá and the Premio de Cuento Ciudad de Bogotá-IDARTES, Junieles now anchors AGP's presence in the region and furthers its mission of connecting Colombian literature with readers around the world.
Rubén Mendieta

A Mexican editor, cultural promoter, and sociologist from UNAM, who has directed publications at Ediciones del Lirio since 1998 — steering the house through more than 200 titles across editions and co-editions. Beyond publishing, he is the founder of the Festival Internacional del Huapango Arribeño y Cultura de la Sierra Gorda de Xichú in Guanajuato, now in its 39th edition, bringing that same spirit of cross-border literary exchange to Del Lirio's collaboration with Antonym Global Publishing.

A dedicated advocate for literary exchange between Latin America and Spain, she shares her passion for books through her blog and YouTube channel, de cuatro hojas, featuring reviews, author interviews, and conversations with publishers and bookshops.
Mia Lecomte
Poet and Writer
An Italian poet and writer of French origin currently based in Switzerland. A translator from French, she is a known critic and editor in the field of transnational literature, and is the founder of the poetic theatre ensemble Compagnia delle poete. With The Antonym Collections, she published the collection Home Is What Is Left (2023) and Chronicles of Impossibility.
