An ironic picture book in which the real winners turn out to be the book and reading.
The picture book—translated into English by Nicole Silberstein G.—sticks to the characteristics of the genre, which is very popular worldwide today: it’s concise, “gets straight to the point,” and is complemented, as it should be, with the illustrations. The text is completely ironic, where an upside-down world prevails: apparently, the young protagonist feels disappointed because his mom doesn’t fulfill his wishes when he goes shopping with her. He becomes fixated—that’s the word—on things his mother is not willing to buy him, like a duck or a chicken. He comes across a book… and from there to the end of the story, funny situations unfold, accompanied by poetry, where the real winners turn out to be the book and reading.
